The New Patriotic Party has taken an early lead in the 2016 presidential election.

With results from 81 polling stations counted so far, the party’s presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo has 16,236 votes, representing 54.01%.
His main rival, John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has 13,236 votes, representing 43.55%.
Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has 470, representing 1.56% of the votes.
Nana Konadu Rawlings of the National Democratic Congress also garnered 82 votes, which represents 0.27% of the total votes cast.
Ivor Greeenstreet of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) had 68 votes, which represents 0.21%.
The independent candidate, Jacob Osei Yeboah, got 63 votes, representing 0.19%.
